Meet Our Friendly Staff!

Barbara Jameson

Veterinarian - BSc, BVMS (1st Class Hons), MANZCVS (Small Animal Medicine), PG Cert (Small Animal Practice), MVS (Small Animal Practice)

Barbara is a full-time veterinarian and practice super-intendant who graduated with 1st class honours in 2008 and won the University Medal for being the most outstanding student in her year. Barbara has recently finished her Masters degree in Small Animal Practice through Murdoch University and after completing her Memberships exams in Small Animal Medicine in 2012, she was awarded the Membership Medal for topping her year. Throughout her time in general practice and at a busy emergency hospital, Barbara has gained extensive experience managing a variety of medical and surgical cases.

Barbara combines her dedication to the welfare of animals with her wealth of knowledge to   provide fantastic care to her patients. Her special passion is treating animals with hormonal conditions, infectious diseases, cancer and ALL CATS. Barbara surrounds herself with animals at work and at home owning 3 dogs: Bella the Terrier X, Jackson the Jack Russell and Jazz the toy poodle, as well as 4 cats: Furrbee the Persian, Indi and Deeks the Birmans and Red the Burmese.

Daniel Huynh

Veterinarian - BVSc

Danny graduated from the University of Sydney in 2010 and has since travelled all around NSW and the UK gaining experience in both large and small practice. In 2017, after having locumed with us a few times, he decided he couldn't bear leave us and joined the team as one of our full-time veterinarians. Danny has a keen interest in surgery and diagnostic imaging as well as establishing great relationships with his clients.

When not at work, Danny enjoys diving, fishing and spending time with his partner and their cat Diddy.

Katherine Daley

Veterinarian - BVSc (2nd Class Hons)

Katherine joined our team in April 2014 as one of our full-time veterinarians. Katherine graduated from the University of Queensland in 2013 with 2nd class honors. She has a keen interest in medicine and her compassion and enthusiasm has been a great asset to the clinic.

When not at work, Kat enjoys hiking, scuba diving, spending time with friends, reading, beach vollyball - And is even learning to surf, how brave!

Katherine's home is ruled by her Cavoodle 'Sparrow' whom she adopted from the clinic.

Natasha Harrison

Veterinarian - BVSc

Natasha is one of our Part-Time veterinarians, and has over 10 years experience working in Australia and the UK. Natasha is a skilled surgeon especially when dealing with soft-tissue surgeries making even the largest of excisions look wonderful!

She is interested in all aspects of medicine especially Auto-Immune Diseases having had a first hand experience with her own pet. Natasha is a very caring and compassionate person who loves getting to know our clients and their furry companions.

When not at work, Natasha has a full house caring for her three beautiful boys, Sabi the Golden Retriever and two Domestic Shorthairs: Jack and Emily

Alex McGrath

Veterinarian - BVSc (Hons. 1)

Alex joined our practice as a full-time veterinarian in mid-2016, having graduated from the University of Sydney with first class honours in 2014 and working in busy general practice since then. Alex has a special interest in all tasks surgical, and is an ultrasound enthusiast! She has also published research in cardiology and tick paralysis.

Outside of work Alex is a culture vulture and loves to see live theatre and art exhibits. The ocean is her second home and she tries to fit in an early morning ocean swim each day.


Peter MacKenzie-Wood

Practice Owner - BVSc

Peter is one of the Practice Partners. Peter has over 20 years experience and has completed a post graduate course in Surgery. Peter is a very keen surgeon and enjoys the challenge Acacia gardens throws at him with orthopaedic cases (broken bones, knee reconstructions) and soft tissue surgeries (such as removing cancers). Peter's main role is as a senior consultant and orthopaedic surgeon, working with more challenging medical and surgical cases.

On a personal level, he is (or was!) a keen sportsman with rugby and swimming being his main interests and still participates in the odd charity bike riding event.

Gwilym Hunt

Practice Owner - BVSc, MACVSc (Surgery)

Gwilym is one of the practice partners and is a member of the Australian College of Veterinary Surgeons Surgical Chapter. He is responsible for the overall quality of surgical care at the practice.

On his weekends away Gwilym enjoys Kite Surfing and spending time with his family. Gwilym owns a very exuberant Staffy, Zanzi, a cat called Cous Puss, 2 turtles Noodle and Larry and an aviary full of exotic birds.


Clare Tolkien

Veterinary Nurse - Veterinary Nursing Cert. IV

Clare joined the team in 2008 and completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in  2010. She is currently working full-time as our Head Veterinary Nurse looking after the day to day running of the clinic. She is very caring and compassionate to our furry friends and is  particularly interested in emergency and critical care nursing.

Clare's furry family consists of 2 cats: Oliver and Louie whom she adopted from the clinic  and a horse called Nikki. On her days off, Clare enjoys horse riding and watching movies.

Laena Grikis-Norman

Veterinary Nurse - Veterinary Nursing Cert. IV

Laena joined our nursing staff in 2010 and has completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. She has a special interest in paediatric nursing as she loves puppies and kittens (who doesn't?!) and makes sure the newest additions to the world get plenty of love and attention.

Laena's home is run by her army of 4 cats: Panzcek, Marley, Willow and Venus as well as a Staffy X called Archer.

Madeline Mercieca

Veterinary Nurse - Veterinary Nursing Cert. IV

Madeline joined our team mid 2015 after completing her Veterinary Nursing Certificate in June. Maddy loves all aspects of nursing, she takes great care of our hospitalised patients and makes sure they each get her undivided attention. Her fun-loving personality and sense of humor has been a great addition to the clinic. Maddie is also a part-time foster mum! any cats/kittens that require some TLC before finding new homes have a place with her family untill they are ready.

Maddie's home is run by her beautiful German Shepherd Rocket but is always trying to make room for some of our stray kittens!

Riani Simpson

Veterinary Nurse - Veterinary Nursing Cert. IV (Currently Studying)

Riani joined the team in 2018 and is currently completing her Veterinary Nursing certificate.

Isabelle Green

Veterinary Nurse - Veterinary Nursing Cert. IV

Belle joined our team mid 2015, after completing work experience with us. Belle has shown a strong interest in our medicine cases looking after our critical, post surgical and neonatal patients with excellent care. Her eagerness to learn and compassionate nature has made her a great addition to our nursing team.

Belle's household is ruled by her 3 dogs Bella, Bambi and Chip, and her 9 cats Ivy, Lily, Lulu, Ollie, Mia, Pippin, Sally, Fluffy and Daisy (crazy cat lady :P )

Maddison Shepheard

Veterinary Nurse - Veterinary Nursing Cert. IV

Maddison joined the nursing team in 2015 after moving all the way from Bathurst to study Animal Science at Western University. Due to studying full time, you will normally catch her on our busy weekends. Having worked in a rural vet, she has had experience with all animals great and small and her hard working, caring nature has been a fantastic asset to the team. Maddison has a keen interest in pocket pets! yes, we have a bunny fan in the house.

Maddison owns a quirky little Spiney Leaf Insect called Alize who keeps her company in her dorm at university.

Kathryn Cooke

Receptionist/Veterinary Nurse - Veterinary Nursing Cert IV (Currently Studying)

Kathryn is our dedicated receptionist in the evenings. Her past experience working in a busy pet shop has given her the knowledge to handle any questions about our clients furry companions and watch over the clinic's busy mornings. Constantly proactive and looking for ways to better the clinic, she has been a great addition to the team.

Kathryn's home is ruled by a Kelpie X called Thor, a Beagle called Heidi and a Spoodle called Alan (whom she adopted from the clinic after having heart surgery) as well as an avairy full of birds


Sarah-Jane Dimech

Veterinary Nurse - Veterinary Nursing Cert IV

Sarah Joined the team early 2016 and is currently working full-time. Her dedication and willingness to learn has made her a valuable member of our team. During Sarah's time here she has become our dedicated wildlife nurse as she has shown a strong interest in rehabilitating and releasing injured and missplaced wildlife that come under strife.

Sarah owns a lovely, talkative domestic shorthair called Ally

Paige Gordon

Veterinary Nurse - Veterinary Nursing Cert IV (Currently Studying)

Paige joined the team after completing work experience with us in 2016. She is currently working Full-Time as she continues studying for her Veterinary Nursing Certificate. Paige enjoys all aspects of nursing, especially caring for our golden oldies in hospital.

Paige's home is run by her adopted blind Fox Terrier called Mr Piggy, a DSH named Mia and recently adopted another cat named Cora from the clinic.

Josephine Hope

Veterinary Nurse - Veterinary Nursing Cert IV

Josie started with us in Oct 2016 with over six years of vet nursing under her belt. She has always wanted to work with animals and can't imagine doing anything other than helping animals. She has a special interest in rabbits and Guinea pigs.

Josie’s animal family includes 2 dogs: Buddy and Shiela; 5 cats: Tabitha, Piggie, Maxi, Gingy, and Mini G and a snake called Chocolate. Her hobbies include dog agility, soccer, and spending time with her family.

Sheree Howlett

Veterinary Receptionist

Sheree joined the team in 2017 as our full-time evening receptionist. Years of experience managing a busy pet shop has armed her with the knowledge to help our clients in the day to day pet care of their furry family members and is happy to help with any querys you might have. Sheree is interested in all areas of the veterinary industry and is currently also running a few of our Puppy Pre-school classes.

Sheree owns a bouncy young Rottweiler named Kenzi who has been a life saving blood donor on a few occasions. Isn't she awesome!

Sarah Woodfield

Pet Groomer

Sarah is our dedicated Dog Groomer who joined the team in 2015. She has over 30 years experience in grooming that all started after two weeks of work experience in school and has never looked back. She has worked in many grooming salons including her own and even showed Afghan Hounds for over 7 years.

Sarah's kind, compassionate nature is shown in her grooms and you can tell she loves doing what she does.  She has been an excellent addition to our team.

Sarah's home is ruled by her talkative cat Thomas whom she adopted as a stray.
